IMSA Signs & Pavement Markings Technician I

Target Audience: This certification is geared toward entry-level technicians who have recently entered the field.

 

General Description: The IMSA Signs & Pavement Markings Technician 1 demonstrates the holder’s knowledge of the basics of sign fabrication/installation and marking placement.

 

Course Specifics: The exam topics covered include – an overview of the most recent techniques, supplies, and standards used to place and upkeep pavement markings and signs on today's roads. The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) is reviewed in detail along with other accepted industry standards and practices. Environmental safety, equipment maintenance, bike lanes, asset management, school zones, visibility, and retro-reflectivity, along with tort and risk liability are also included.

 

Purpose: With this knowledge, the bearer of this certification is ready to contribute to any signs or pavement markings crew.

 

Prerequisite(s):

In Florida – Intermediate Temporary Traffic Control or higher (formerly Maintenance of Traffic); Outside of FL – IMSA Work Zone Traffic Control Safety Certification

One year of experience in the traffic operations field.
